Catch The Fake Before The Fake Catches The Room
Fake The Room is a fast social deduction word game where most players know the secret, one player does not, and everybody has to sound like they belong.
Start a fresh lobby, share the code, and steer the round.
Jump into an existing lobby with a code and get ready to bluff.
Waiting for players...
The Goal
Most players get the same secret word. The impostor does not, so everyone has to talk carefully and work out who sounds off.
How You Win
Players win by voting out the impostor. The impostor wins by surviving the vote, causing a tie, or correctly guessing the secret word first.
Local Or Online
Local mode is for one shared device. Online mode gives everyone their own reveal screen while the host controls when the round moves on.
Round Flow
1. Add players, choose your lists, and set the number of impostors.
2. Everyone checks their secret. Real players see the word. The impostor sees a hint or nothing, depending on your settings.
3. Go round, give clues, and talk it out without saying the answer directly.
4. If the impostor guesses the secret word, they win instantly.
5. Otherwise, open voting and decide who the fake is.
What The Settings Do
Impostors: Adds more than one fake to the round.
Timer: Starts a countdown during discussion.
Impostor Hint: Gives the fake a clue instead of total darkness.
Chaos Mode: Everyone gets different words, so the room gets much messier.
How many people do you need?
Fake The Room works best with 3 to 20 players. Smaller groups feel sharper and more tactical. Bigger groups feel louder and more chaotic.
Can you play online with friends?
Yes. Create an online lobby, share the code, and each player gets their own private reveal screen while the host controls the flow of the round.
Do players need to download anything?
No. It runs in the browser, so you can play on phones, tablets, or laptops without installing an app.
What makes it different from other impostor party games?
Fake The Room is built around fast clue rounds, readable settings, and a simple browser flow, so it is easy to teach but still gives the fake a real chance to blend in.
